- N 1 o .... en -' HORTON RIPS TROJAN ~ W Z W ..J U > U SOUTH GATE, CALIF., Nov. 20, 1970 - Tommy Horton, sponsored by K&W Products of Whittier, rode to victory in three main events and one trophy dash Friday night at Trojan Speedway. In the 100 TT Main Event Bob Sanders jumped into. the lead off the line. Horton put his Kawasaki right behind Sanders'. SanCiers ·and Honon moved into some traffic. Sanders took to the outside while Horton went inside where he took the lead and held on for the win. Paul Wilde (Yam) was second while Wally Jones (Kaw) took third. The 125 TT Main saw Horton jump into the lead, followed by Bob Young, (Yam). Horton led all the way with Young taking the second spot. Wilde was there for third place. Horton and Sanders battled again in the 100 Flat Track Main. Horton started pulling away to win by a good margin. J ones again settled for a third place Hnish. In the 250 TT Main Horton took the lead going into the first tum followed closely by Chris Smith on a Montesa. On the sixth lap, as Horton was going over the jump, his chain snapped. Smith then took the lead but only for one lap. Bob Doornbos then took over and held on for the win. Smith was a close second with Bob Baker on an Ossa, third. Horton also won the 100 TT trophy dash, riding his Kawasaki. Lloyd Quintaro blitzed the 125 Flat Track Main. Event. Following behind Quintaros' Yamaha was Dan Bousman, also on a Yamaha. Chris Davidson put his Yamaha in third. Montesa mounted Chris Smith dominated the 250cc Flat Track Main all the way. Sanders, riding a Bultaco this time, placed second. Tim Wolf, also on a Bul, was third. Smith also was the winner of the 250 Flat Track Trophy Dash. Doornbos won the 250 TT Dash on his Bultaco. Bob Young and his Yamaha won victor in the 125 TT Dash. The bikes will be back at Trojan Speedway this Thursday and Friday for a full schedule of racing. Thanksgiving night, Trojan will put on their special Thanksgiving race. CALIF., Nov. 21.' 19~0 - The Burton. announced Saturday night that urndentlfled persons broke In Friday and took the Mini·Bike that was to be raffled off, eight or nine cases of beer, trophies, a record player and the National Anthem recording. Following the tracks made by the Mini-Bike they found at the end of the trail the words HA-HA PIG scrawled in the dirt.
