featuring Class A bikes as well as 250's, could attract a whole new audience for
motorcycle racing and should be a natural for television syndication.

Who would be hurt,by having fewer, 'higher.paying Nationals? Not the racers. w
Even those who stay home and cherry-pick while the hot dogs are away would Z
probably benefit from having more races witp higher purses in their area when ~
promoters don't have to compete with so many Nationals.

Not the promoters, certainly. Whether they are in it for one race a year, or more, ~
they can count on better shows at their Nationals, and more stars for their 4·stars.
Not the manufacturers, who will know that when they wi!, a big one, it will be
current news for more than seven days. The ,press will not complain, believe me. And
even the AMA wquld benefit from more sanctions, better purses and happier
promoters ana riders, in the long run. .
'So how about it, AMA Congress? For next year's Professional National
Championship Rules Committee, I propose the slogan "20 is Plenty." Isn't it time
that we pointed the National Trail toward the rainbow, instead of just another empty
horizon?
