LAFAYETfE, COLO., Nov. 8, 1970 Braving cold, windy weath!"", typical of
a Colorado fall day, 4000 spectators
appeared and were given an excellent
display of riding by European and
American riders, alike.
Sylvain Geboers, riding his recently
recovered machine which was stolen last
weekend after the InterĀ·Am at Bay Mare
Park in California, rode his Suzuki
furiously to hold off the charges of first
Christen Hammargren and later, Arne
Kring. He succeeded beautifully and
took overall honors in the process.
When Hammargren wasn't nipping at
Geboers' heels,Arne Kring was until the
second moto when Kring, running
seconc;l, lost his rear brake and then his
chain which put him out of the race.
This allowed Harnrnargren to go on to
take second overall ahead oJ Jacques
Vernier.
j 0 h n DeSoto rode his CZ
magnmcently and made quite a showing
by taking fourth overall and top
American honors, just edging out Kring,
Miroslav Hahn and Ottakar Toman, who
claimed the next three positions before
MikeR1lnyard who finished eighth overall.
Gene Durham (Hus) showed the
500cc Sportsman class how to ride and
Ove Hasselberg saw most of the show as
he picked up second.
- The 250 Senior race was an equally
fine affair with Jim Wicks (CZ)
maintaining an advantage to win over
second place John Bettencourt. Wicks
really had to ride a smooth and
Chris Hammargren took advantage of Arne Kring's second mota break-down by
taking second over.all.
persistent race to take it, however.
Jerry Becker (Hus) took first in the
250 Jr. class and the trip from Utah
paid off- well for Kerry Fowler who
rallied for second.
Sylvain GOOoers, winner of all three motoS.
Riding like the wind, local star
Gordon Bryson won going away in the
125 class.
