Since the courses will have different levels of difficulty, riders can be encouraged to stay on the coune appropriate to his ability. Since neither nearby residents nor the cyclists themselves will have much use for an area that looks like a popular battleground, fairly elaborate plans have been made for landscaping and maintenance. All area that is not trail will have some sort of ground cover. In a couple of spots there will be groves of trees for picnicking. There will also be a concession stand for non-.picnickers and a parts concession for those whose bikes don't quite make it. Opposition to the park is strong, organized, and very determined. As always, letters are effective. And the opponents of the park have made certain that the public officials have received plenty of letters. Since very few people have written to voice approval for the park plan, the opposition is leading in this area. The final battles will be staged. in semi·public meetings. The fIrst will be the meeting of the City Council of the City of Anaheim. There the proposal is ~ expected to be approved. Next it will go to the County Board of Supervisors. There, unless cyclists get in there and fight, it will be defeated. Want a place to ride near Anaheim? It's not very big but it's a lot bigger than what you've got now. .
