The track was in near perfect condition, a bit tacky, but not on the heavy side, and to everybody's liking. Those gals from the Powder Puff Assoc. were turning in some good times. A welcome back goes to Don England back from the tar-heel country. If you don't know where that is, well it is in North Carolina. Don looked over a lot of land back there, could be there is a HRA east in the making. As usual all the heats were as eagerly run as if they were the Main. You could never be sure who the winner was until the black and white was waved. The only near bad spill of the day was when Mike Murphy lost it in tum four and slid a good thirty feet; he just got up and shook his head. Mike later took number two in the 125 Novice. The Black was thrown on the 250 Novice after Mike Perez and a couple of other riders went down in turn one. Perez went on to pick up a third in the 250 Novice. Second slot went to R. Christner (Bul). while number one went to H. J. Morgan. Tom White really got off the mark good in the 250 Expert and had a decent lead only to go down in turn five. Jerry Greer, back on his own bike after three weeks, took over the lead and held on for a win. Last week Jerry was on a little 100. Mr. Huntington Beach, Bryon Farnsworth garnered the number one in the Open Expert. This guy is one of the greatest. Keep an eye out for the report. that Bryon will be doing on the new little Yamaha. Mike Posey got second (Tri), and back in third was Ike Mizen (Tri). Come on out this Saturday morning if you want to see the new AJS, a little open house is being held.
