and was taken to the hospital with a possible broken leg. Trophies for the last event

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF., Oct. 4, 1970 - Making one of his rare non-desert
appearances was J.N. Roberts today at H.B.C.P. and he made it a successful one by
taking the top spot in the Open Expert. Greg Schweers, running well up in the pack,
showed doing a good deed doesn't hurt. Seeing teammate Jerry Natelborg go down in
the 2SO class, he stopped to give a helping hand and still managed to take second on
his Bultaco. Report and Photo by Gary Schmythe. (Results on page 22.)
COSTA MESA, CALIF., Oct. 2, 1970 - Speedway action at Orange County
Fairgrounds tonight turned into a three-way battle between Rick Woods and the Bast
Brothers. Steve Bast was topped by Woods in a match race over an overly watered'
track so the pair locked horns in the Scratch Semi only to have Mike Bast take the
glory from them. In the Handicap Main, the trio were out again and Mike pulled into
the lead successfully from his SO-yard handicap and stayed off brother Steve and
Woods. Report by Mike Capalite, photo by Dennis Greene. (Results on page 22.)
