beat Rick and then top his brother, he
could have been champion. As Mike said

this type of racing, you're only allowed
one mistake and I made it, I'm just
happy that the Bast family was able to
fInish second and third if we couldn't
get the big one."
The fa.ns never had a chance to rest,
as one exciting race followed another,
and as the evening progressed, it was
apparent that it was going to go down
to the last race between Woods and

race to include Woods, Cody, BaSt and
Nutter, figuring that this would do just
what it did - make the last race of the
everring the deciding one. Due to a
previous injury which was aggrevated by
an early spill, Nutter had to drop out
after two heats, much to the
disappointment of his many fans and
the Great Bear Racing Team.
A special change in the tape-breaking
rule kept Steve Bast in the program,
although the penalty imposed probably
kept him from winning the
championship. The rule stated that if a
man broke the starting tape, instead of
