After the first mota the riders voted by a small margin to go back to the regular way of doing things and so the spice was quickly'shelved. Cary Tanner and Tony Demus did the change partner bit with Tony blowing it when he unloaded riding the reverse course and pulled a fourth. He did come back to take two 1lrsts but Cary's 1lrst and two seconds gave him the win. Paul 'Lass was third. In spite of dropping it on the reverse course Tony at the trophy presentation told the riders they should give something new a chance and learn how to ride any track forward, backward and sideways, especially if they want to be good riders. He proves his point by his own reputation. . . (Results on page 24) first and held the lead until tum four of the first circuit when Horton got inside • of him and took over the lead as they came down the front straight. Horton held on to the lead for the win with Sanders close behind him. Mark REvels on a Kawasaki took third. Ron Powell mounted his Bultaco to win the 250 IT Main. Powell, also K&W sponsored, got the jump over the rest of the field coming off the line. He then started putting ground between himself and the second place rider Bob Byers on a Yamaha.. Byars came in second with Dan Carlton putting his Ossa third and Danny Hackie fourth. Byars, Carlton, and Hackie put on a good battle for the second spot. In the 250 flat track Main Event Mike Arambike throttled his Ossa into turn one first but did not hold onto the lead very long as Powell put his Bultaco down low and took over the lead going down the back chute. Powell then built up a sizeable lead and hung on to win. Gary Anderson placed second with Arambide taking third. Paul Wilde was the winner of the 125 IT Main. Wilde jumped into' the lead coming off the line and just kept his Yamaha way out in front the entire race. John Doyon placed second with Raymond Wunno grabbing third. In the 125 flat track Main Event, Rich Kovns mounted on a Bultaco took the lead going into tum one and held on for the win. Kovns was pressed hard by Jim Tabler until the last turn of the race when TAbler lost it and took to the dirt. Mark Revels then took second with Bob Young third. Hackie won the 250 IT trophy dash challenged by Powell the entire race. It looked like it was going to be a photo finish until the last turn when Powell hit some mud and slid about 20 feet with his bike on top of him. Powell was not hurt in the mishap. Anderson won the 250 flat track dash mounted on his Bultaco; Kovns won the 125 flat track on a Kawasaki; and Larry Bird won the 125 IT trophy dash.
