From the drop of the starter's flag, Aldana was
a major contender. When he thundered across the finish line of the 30 rap, one mile dirt track, national race,
he registered his 3rd national victory of the season, and
proved again the championship caliber of the 650cc .

lap, half-mile dirt track race' at Terre Haute, and the
200 mile road race at Talladega, Alabama, where he
set a new U.S. record of 104.59 mph for 200 miles.
