" '" ~ w Z W ..J U >- U are HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF., Sept. 6, 1970 - The action was high and mighty at Huntington Beach Cycle Park today, and Lloyd Ouintard and Derek McLeish were ·the highest flyers: Ouintard returned after last month's accident and built upon his HRA POint standings lead with three motocross wins in the 125cc Expert. McLeish also took all t~ree of ~is motos, all of them by incredibly huge margins. Ray Lopez also wiggled his way Into some of the glory as he pushed his Rickman-Metisse to overall top honors in the 125 Jr. class. Report and photo by Dave Swift. (Results on page 22). JUNIORS: This is your chance to race against other Sportsmen at your own level of proficiency. There will be three separate divisions of JUNIORS: Division 1's - beginners who have raced not more than 5 times. Division 2's - beginners who have raced more than 5 times and not more than 6 months. Division 3's - proficient Sportsmen. GARDENA, CALIF., Sept. 3, 1970 - The unusual-elad Rich Thorwaldson proved the (riding) clothes don't make the man tonight as he took on some of the North's finest MX racers appearing at Ascot and took home the most money. Tom Rapp tried hard to defeat Bob Messer in the 250 Inter-Ex class, but the youthful Messer pulled the upset. Other top names on hand were Carl Cranke, Ron Stockman, John Maynard, Jim McDonald and Mike Cram. It was the first appearance by Messer here on his new factory-sponsored 250 Maico.
