Point. Torrential cloudbursts on U Thuuday and Saturday FILLED all the mudholes and promoter Bob Dresslar 'managed to maneuver the course thro~l(h most all that were accessible. :3 Many bikes got waterloggea and by the third mota, after another Sunday afternoon cloudburst, just about everyone had trouble getting throught the ruts and mud. About 150 riders turned out and all enjoyed the day although it was quite gooey. As it turned out, it w3.$ a Mud and more mud was the order of the day at "the poi nt". spectator's paradise, even more so than usual. Large crowds were gathered around the mudholes to catch the action. The first 100 Jr. race saw young Tim Hoover fall and get run over. He took the first trip to the hospital in about nine months, but luckily he was back in about two hours showing no serious after effects from the twisted neck. Don Urbanek won two motos and managed a second for first overall on his Hodaka. Ed Irsik raced his Honda to second with some consistent matos. In Division 2, Bob Kvammer kept his Honda above the mud for three motos. Second went to Mike Lawson on his Yamaha. The first Division of I25's saw the Penton of John Rathbun on top with consistent placings. Bob Wilkerson kept his Yamaha uprigh t for a first, second and fourth to capture second overall. The second division was won by D. Brown on a Penton, with three wins. Gary Powell raced his Yamaha to second with Deadmans regular Brad Faulkner getting third on his Yamaha. The third 125 Division was a runaway for Larry Bird on his Yamaha. Looks like a new edition to the 125 Senior class. Jack Riddling got bis Yamaha in for two seconds and a third to capture second overall. Another regular "K.P." Mathis captured third. Al Engl'eking raced his CZ to a win in the third division of 250's with some good racing. A Bultaco got in for second with Roger Stagg aboard and Roy Schubert managed some consistent Arlington Texas Moto Park Inc. Presents European Motocross 9 Event Summer Series racing for third on his Yamaha. In. the 500 Junior class, Layman Gahis' picked up another first place trophy, althougl1 he: finished back in sixth in one mota. John Rathburn rode his CZ to second. Two new editions to the 250 Senior class managed to show up at the top of the results again with Jim Hoover getting first aboard his CZ and Rex Statten worked up for second on his Ossa. Bud Feldkamp was first 500 Senior on his Husky.. The mud took its toll, and the high finishers got there by finishing up front in three races. Many riders were up front in one moto and out of the next one. The name of the game was FINISH. It was another good day and the afternoon rain cooled the warm weather. The next race will be on September 6th, so anyone desirous of a fun day with many nice people and fompetitive racing, see you then.
