• The first m-ni bike· GARDENA, CALIF., August 6,1970 - Rich Thorwaldson was the man on top of the 500 Expert class at Ascot this week. Rich rode his big Metisse to victory, handing defeat to second place Greeves mounted Jim Wilson, and Jim West, who romped around the course into third. Tim Hart and his Montesa topped Gary Bailey in the 250 division, with West coming up third in this event ahead of John DeSoto and Jim Wilson. All riders rode three taps around ttie nirie trap'course, which many described as "extremely difficurt". Ninety riders were on hand for the event, more' than had been expected because of the heat. Bledsoe was followed in by Bob Nichelsen and Kevin Walker, both Bultaco mounted.
