We've got a column of sort of miscellaneous odds 'n' ends tb1s week, but some of it is important. The Powder Puff Association's meetings are now on the third Thursday of each month at the Jackrabbit Club House. Women Interested In racing are all welcomed and the club Is not just concerned with only scrambler riders either. We'll clarifY the Powder Puff class rules again as we've received another Inquiry as to what they are. The 0-125 engine size requirement pertains only to scrambles; if you have a larger machine you can still ride but you'll be out with the men. There are no Powder Puff classes In the desert or motocross althougb some clubs have been baV1Dg a motocross Powder Puff class as a consideration and we suspect to make things a bit safer for all concerned! The Jackrabbits bave pickeduPthecanceUeddatefrom the 'M' M.C. and will throw a TT scrambles so at least that's one run we baven't lost. There's not a club around who doesn't make a mistake at a run at one time or another; some are really bad ones wh11e others are just simple things but we felt a bit sorry for the blast the Jackrabbits received In a letter printed In this paper a couple of weeks ago. We know everyone 15 entlUed to their own opln1on and also has a right to express it, but wow! As just one way of standing up for the Rabbits, we know that they are one of the oldest clubs In the District going back about 30 years. The current District President, Bill Adams, Is a llfet1me member and the club has been throwing successful scrambles and desert races all these years. There are some old-timers In that club that fIaUy put the point over to the newer and un-experienced members as to what is right and what isn't. They've also recently added some more rules for members, one of which is excellent,. If the club is throwing, say, a scrambles but you are In the top ten point stand1ngs In the desert, you are excused from work duties for that day so you can ride. A good way to Increase club membershiPs and keep everyone happy. Wb1le st1l1 on the subject of clubs we hope that club members read Bob Fee'S excellent series of articles In Cycle News on the Internal Revenue Service and their requirements for tax returns. Some of them are enough to give you a touch of the horros. I mena, if you were a club officer of an Incorporated club and said club bad not complied with the new rules, how would it grab you to have the IRS tap your personal wallet for monies owed, fines etc? We won't go over these again but for safety's sake have your treasurer check with Uncle Sam so you can fulfill the requirements • This pertains to all events. Have your sign-uP crews check riding cards carefully to make sure the riders have the proper riding cards. One steward has a COuPle of chaps who are riding happily away In 1970 but obviously present1ng 1969 cards at sign-up. Their names come In on the results but their earned 1970 numbers bave not been applied for. One case In point has an Amateur standing In two divisions but Is still riding Novice! Seems like this Is the year to be In the hospital. Two favorite riders are In now. Al Baker did a spectacular In the desert and got pretty well crunched as be was riding to the smoke bomb and Dave Ekins Is In for repairs to a bone not healed quite right In a previous Injury. Our favorite tale for a long time? We understand that Chuck Mlnert contacted the Motor Veb1cle Bureau about a certain number license plate for 1970. He was told what box It was In and what office to go to, so "Feets" did, was given the plate and went home happy.
