Expert Semi-MaiD was taken by Don Castro but the real race was for second. Gene Romero and Dick Mannput on a wheel to wheel duel that bad the crowd on their feet. Romero came through to get second and Mann was third. In the first turn Dewayne Keeter fell off. Keith Mashburn came sl1d1ng through the turn right behind and hit Dewayne before he bad a chance to know that Keeter was down. This put both out of the race, but they are okay. The 14 Lap Amateur MaIn was to be a real showdown with just about all the hot Amateurs around In tbls one. But it didn't quite turn out to be the duel that was exPected. The two big favorites managed to ellmlDllte themselves by fall1ng during the first part of the race. John Hateley and Tad Sloan got off In the first turn to put them out. Terry Dorsch came through to collect a big win for himself with Rex Beauchamp taIdng second. The victory by Rice now extends his number one position In the national point race considerably.
