'!bere were several spectacular crashes, with the most spectacular of the evening going 110 an unidentlt1ed l00cc rider who looped it over the jump. Lucidly, bike and rider, separated at that po1nt, because that Uttle bike looked more Uke a cartwheel going through the air than a mollOrcycle. '!be largest and wildest class was the 25Bcc Novice DiVision with 33 riders entered. Winner of that event was L. Gino, Bul, but it was a lIOugh tight all the way with a good percentage of the riders looklng as 11 they could move inllO the Am/Ex. Qiv. with no trouble at all. '!bere were so many outstandlng races that it would be very bard 110 pick even a whole class that would shine above the rest, but the 350-50OCc Amateur was super-outstandlng, with T. HorllOntaklng the win in that D1V1sion, with second going 110 C. Soderstrom. Even the Powder Potts were running extremely fast and I overheard a cOllPle at Jackrabbit Flagmen talking about !llIing glad they weren't racing with the girls on this particular evening. Winner of the Powder Pott event was L. Burke with E. Long challenging all the way for a close second. Although it rained earUer in the day the weather was nice by race-time, Saturday evening with the track in good condition and very little dust. During the short track practice, Scott Autry, (Yamaha), and CbarlesGann(Bultaco), put on quite a show with some spectacular sUdes. Top rider of the evenlng would have 110 be awarded 110 Yamaha-mounted Steve Nichols, who won the 125cc Sr. T.T., the 250Cc Sr. T.T. and the 125ccSr. Short Track. '!be most exciting race of the night was the 250Cc Jr. T.T. Semi-Main. Morris MaIone, '(AJS), and Doug Hannon, (Bultaco), fought it out lap by lap, with Morris squeezing by on the f1nal laP.
