Riders tackle the notorious sandy whoop-de-doos at Poso Park Sunday. KERN COUNTY CLUB HOLDS POSO PARK MI by Jack Light POSO PARK, CALIF., June 14, 1970Carnival atmosphere prevailed with the rwmtng of the Kern County Tra1lb1aZers Poso Park Moto-Cross. The course, as always was prepared to perfection. 198 riders signed uP to try their skills on this challenging course, all classes were fUled to overflowing capacity, running some classes In two divisions. The days events started with the 100 Jr. class, with Bob Kvammen collecting Yamaha, after experiencing tough hick two firsts and one second on his newHon- In the first Moto, came back real strong da Mota-Sport. The Fuller brothers . to take a second and a first, for a second overall, with John Wa.1gamuth, from Lancaster made It a family affalr. with Henry riding his Bultaco In ahead Sachs, taldng a soUd tbird. Mike Illlvid and his Sachs made a clean sweep of of brother Russell on his Yama.ha, with another Yamaha ridden by Tom Sanders all three Motos, with Carmon Mlnder, American Eagle, with Illlvid Kunkle makcollecting tbird place gold In the 125 Jr. Divls10n I. Roo Reynolds tooled his Pening uP the first three front runners In the 125 Sr. class. ton In fine style to take first spot In Division II, 125 Jr. Scott Garrabrant, The tightest racing of the day was between two C-Z motorcycles, ridden by Jack King, who won two first and one second, and Joe Cushaway In the 250 ok. I Division. The same pattern was followed In the 250 Jr. Division II, with a battle of Husqvarna bUces of WW1am DeIddDg and Raul Escamilla The 250 Sr. class was a real thing for C- Z motorcycles, the first four places were C-Z. 15 year old John Gross1n1 took all three motos. He is some sort of a "heart stopper" rider, comlng from' behlnd In eYery race to take the checkered. ':\'he Open Jr. produced some fine x:acing, with David wiutams, C- Z taking all three motos, followed by hard r1dlng Joel Kyne, Malco, and Robert Paxton, C-Z. The Open Sr. Class pitted together some real fine talent, and mach1nes that were prepared to take their riders exactly where they lntended to go. Bob Grossi rode h1s Husqvarna flawlesslY for 100 per cent average, three for three, never In any trouble from the first lap on. Ever colorful Mike Runyard, Montessa, ran behlnd Bob, as did Steve Benedict, Husky. Jack Ktng from Lompoc on a 250 C.Z. came In first In the 250 Novice class after a little rough luck In one moto. Jeff Lltue from Santa Marla on a Savage came In second with Joe Cushaway In third. The 125 Novices saw sometastchanging action In all three motos. Jerry Johnsol) came In first on a Bultaco .with Ricky Long In second. The 100 Novices also showed changed positions throughout the three motos. It was a battle with John Caldwell, Scott Frisby and Doug Weis each coming In first OIl a Sachs, Honda and Hodaka. Overall It was Wels, Caldwell, and Frisby respectfully. The 125 Experts had a big battle going with Mike David on his Sacbs against Larry Greer on a borrowed Yamaha.
