HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF., June 7, .
1970 - Twice a month the Huntington
Racing Association stages a motocross
on what amounts to a vacant lot, right in
the middle of Huntington Beach.
Evidently all promoter Don England
needs to put on a race ts a bulldozer, a
water truck, and a P.A. system.
Thts continuing series' won't thrill
Gary Bailey and the boys, but it sure
proviQes just what Sunday racers everywhere dream about.
The track, because of' the limited
space available, is extremely tight, narrow," and full of jumps, holes, bogs and
all manner of other things calculated to
provide the mtsery that makes motocross
.something more than a bumpy TT. Apparently England and company have hit
the right combination, as you always see
the same faces at H.R.A. events, and
everyone has a good time.
Some of the best competition at Sunday's races was provided by the usual
horde of Hodakas in the lOOcc class.
These boys really get down to business
eVerytime - out, with Bruce McDougal
taIdng honors for the day.
The outstanding dice of the afternoon
took place in the Sweepstakes race Grand Final H.R.A. style. Bruce Mc
Dougal and Mike Hayes on their lOOcc
Hodakas put on a fine display of riding
talents, trying to stave ott John Maynard
on bts 360 Malco. in the last lap Maynard
managed to power by Hayes but the
checkered t1ag fell on McDougal much
to everyones surprise.
