The 250cc Handicap Main was a real
shocker from beg1on1ng to end. The race
included National 200cc Flattrack champ
Dick Turner on his Triumph, Carl Crank
on a Bultaeo, Terry Hughes on a Husky,
and Lowell Moural on a Yamaha. Dick
haS a siZeable hand1~ to overcome
starting some 10. yards beh10d Carl
C ran k, and some 40 yards beh10d
Moura!.
The Yamaha of Moural took the lead
from the start with Lowell broadsllding
each corner. Hughes, Crank, and Turner
began to pass the. slower rIders on the
outside down the straights and in the
corners. After two laps Turner and
Crank were side by side with DIck on the
outside. Flnally Turner in the north
corner really got a good bit and took
Crank OIl the outside. One lap later he
took Hughes on the 1os1de 01. the north
corner as Hughes hit a bump and lost
control 01. his bike, slIding to the outside
for a moment. He then began to close in
on Moural, and closed the distance to 2
yards at the f101sh.
All in all this race was very exctting,
and left the fans waiting for nex.t week.
