Dan Carlton aboard hi s Hock ies tuned Ossa takes infield corner on way to 50 lap TT victory. Mike Curoso gets a little leg stretcher in 125 class action. CARLTON .C·OPS TROJAN TT By Eddie Smith SOUTH GATE, CAL. May 21, 1970Trojan Speedway's 50 lap TT spectacular was won Thursday night by Ossa mounted Dan Carlton. Irwin Moon and Danny Hackie challenged Carlton during the race and Moon brought his Bultaco to a second place finish after starting the race on the pole. Hock1e who was running second on the farly-seventh lap dumped his Ossa but got started again and finished the race in fifth spot. After Danny fell Irwin Moon still chall enged Carton for the lead, but to no avaU. Jimmy Raymond riding an AJS placed third with Tommy Hortonanother AJS rider taking fourth. Ron Powell mounted on a Bultaco lost his bike on the thirty- seventh lap going into turn one. Powell went down and then slid about twenty feet with his bike on top of him. Ron walked away from the accident but was finished for the night. Out of twelve bikes that started in the fifty lapper ten were still running at the end. Powell was out because of his accident while Danny Corbett gave way to engine trouble with his Bultaco, In the 250 TT heat race John Sperry riding an Ossa hit the marbles and went down with the bike on top of him. Tom Horton who was right behind Sperry had nowhere to go but over the top of Sperry • Horton'S front tire went over John's helmet but he was not hurt in the acct- ent , After the mishap Sperry went on to win the second 250 TT Semi Maln event. With the win John went into the f1!ty lap Main where he finlshed ninth'. Dan Carlton rode his Ossa to a win iD the 250 TT Trophy Dash. Jimmy Ray mond was the winner in the 100 and 125 TT and also the 100 flat track Trophy Dashes . Raymond rode his Yamaha in the three races for the wins. The 100 TT Main Event was also won by the hard charging Jimmy Raymond on his Yamaha. Troy McKee mounted on his Kawasaki placed second while Danny Hart brought his Hodaka into third. Dale Hopkins was the winner in the 125 TT Main on a t"amaha. l'inlshing second behind Dale was Jimmy Raymond, again mounted on his Yamaha. Duke Gray, also rldlng a Yamaha, placed third in the race. Raymond was the winner again in the 100 flat track Main Event. Frank Baldozer placing second and Bob Sanders taking the third spot. The 125 flat track Main saw Raymond in the victory circle again. Dennis Hanson was second with Mike Hanson taking third. Both of the Hansons were mounted on Yamahas; The bikes w1ll be back at Trojan Speedway again next Thursday night. The TT and flat track racing will begin at 7:30.
