~I~TT MIAT Ta'T The Trojan TT riders do some tricky foot work bending around toward the jump. Horton Wins At Trojan By Eddie Smith Wayne Garrell bounces through a Maricop a gUlly on his way to a 125 class win. Doug Wheeler and Bill Payne brought their CZ's home to first and second overall. Wheeler getting a first and two seconds, and Payne winning two heats but falling in the second moto and slipping hack to fourth . Danny Summerlln was third in the 250Cc Junior, Division I . The 250cc Junior, Division 2 run combined. with the 250Cc Senior. Steve Hammer (AJS) won the senior event, while the junior ,class_. was won ,by (uh-hu) Allen Garrett (Yam), Bill Royden (C Z) was second and Joe Cushway was third on his CZ. The Open Junior-Senior Combined was like a page out of history, proving again, you can't quite discount the old four strokes yet, as (h ere's that name again) Wayne Garrett wheeled his forty inch Triumph Metisse home to first place Senior with Steve Benedict (Hus) second and Glenn Colby (Mai) third. The juniors were shown the way home by Steve Rouch ( CZ) with John Mitchell (Hus) second and Tom Mills (Hus) third. In aU, a good day's racing, testing rider and machine with up-hills, downh111s, side-h111s, sandwashes and a little TT track thrown in for good measure. There was positively one group of riders who . enjoyed the day. I won't even tell you who they are, I" just let you guess . (Results on page 19) MARICOPA, CALIF., April 26, 1970The Taft Motorcycle Club presented a .. Desert Motocross" today, and the name . of the game was DUST. Heaven help the rider who didn't clean his filtron between heats. Soft, dry, silty s oil on most of the h111s seemed in places to be almost bottomless, testing machine preparation and rider conditioning to the utmost. was Art Carter (H-D). just put the 10.Qcc Junior class In his pocket and ran away with all three heats. Leo Fedawa (H-D) came In with a .weu deserved second, and Tom Garrett (Yam) was third. Get used to the name Garrett friends, you ain't seen nothin' yet. The first division of the 125cc Junior class was another one - man-event, as Craig Cole ( Bul) won all three motos, chased by ,Chester Wheeler (Yam) In second and (are you ready?) Allen Garr ett (Yam) In third. The 125cc Junior, Division two, was won by Jack McKay (Yam), closely followed by James Childs (Yam) and Greg Geiser (H-D).
