Kings County M~C. Hosts North Calif. Scrambles By Tim Thomas HANFORD, CAWF-. Apr il 26, 1970 ":The Kings County M.C.' s Scrambles Sunday saw Curt Lange lead things off with a win in the 90Cc Amateur Heat and Main, over Richard HUl. The victory raised a considerable am ount of doubt tbat Lange will be an Amate ur very long. He is a very stylish rider and will certainly go a long ways In the sport. The 1 25cc Novice class was dominated by Bruce Balsemann on his Bultaco. Bruce fell off in the first lap of his heat, got UP dead last, and silll won the event. The 125cc Amateur-Expert class held no surprises. Ron Tobey took the Expert win and Mike Keener the Amateur. This is the case at most of the races around here. In the 200Cc Novice-Amateur class, Rick Reeds took his Bultaco to another Amateur win. Al Nystrom should get an award for trying the hardest, as he brought his under powered Ossa in second. Green Taies Vallejo 'ea'ure ' By Bill Spencer VALLEJO, May 1, 1970 - The HJ-Hats 1970 opener turned out to. be a long drawn out atfa1r, as 340 riders turned out to ride the Vallejo Speedway short scrambles. Jolin Green, ran away with the 250 Expert feature event after two restarts. Jim Foley bad led it off, but JacJde Pard, got off hard in the f1rst turn and tbat necessitated the black flag. Green led it out from there, and then Bruce Teixeira, bII.1led l:ry1ng to get into fourth. The 250 Amateur Main was easily won by Pat Eagan, and with Scott Brelsford, joining the Expert ranks there are sure to be many sighs of relief. Jim Van Lee and Bill Trebull rounded out the f1rst three. The 125 Novice affair was won by motocroseer Steve Foster, who rides somewhat like toasted almonds would on a 1-i/2 mile TT. Ivan Shigemasa came UP from Salinas to capture the 200 Am•. Main, in fine . style, from Eddie Brown on a simllar Bultaco. Shlgeinasa will have to make the big switch to 250Cc very soon, as he will turn Expert In the near future. But it proved exciting, as Graham dumped in the f1rst turn and . Max Hall on a H-D Spring tookcommand and bad little trouble taking the checkered. Dorian Jewett and Jack Crider bad very little problem with the 350Amateur Main and were easy winners. In the 500cc Expert Main, John Green made it look even easier than the 250 Main with a conVincing win over Jay c-uu. After Ron Keener beat out brother Jim for the last transfer to the 250 Amateur Main, Jim was out for revenge in the 500 Amateur Main. Revenge he got by sliding his Husky In for a close win over Ron. The Keener brothers, Ron, Jim, and Mike, take home a bunch of trophies from every race. Jim McCraken took his Triumph to an open Expert win over Grandpa Huggy Jackson's sputtering Triumph.
