March 22, 1970 - The second week of racing is over and the feelings about the new track are still uP for grabs. Those who had ridden the previous week felt the track had improved 100%, and the Maico riders are ready to erect a shrine, the course has been so good to them. Bob K11ne, making his first appearance of the season, was once again mounted on an American Eagle, and together they seem unbeatable. Bob had a nine week win streak last year, and he's off and running this season. Brother Ji m held uP the other half of the team by taking the l25cc Class. Stu Cox just had one of those days. He ran out of gas on the way out to the track, so he borrowed some fr om his bike and really lucked out, as he won his class but ran out of 'gas in the Sweepstakes. Ever hear of those cans you can buy that hold gas, Stu? You put them in your car, preferably fUled. and no problems. sreen Ilaters Stu recently became 'a Papa for the s econd tim e and had a so n for the first, The Bruce Priors are expecting another child in a month or so. Bruce is still trying to ride that 10Dec bike but forgets he's built like a football player. Little ten year old Charles Summers had the whole crowd in the palm of his hand, as he won all his motos in the 10Dec Novice Class. What made it so neat was the fact he was riding a Honda 50. And boy did he ride it . The whole pit crowd let out a whoop when he took the checkered flag his final heat. The Stanford boys came up from Indio, and Toby took home the gold for the fa mily. Tim Beason and Mark Revels came uP from points south and proved they haven't lost their touch. Mark was sporting some pretty s har p new leathers. He also sur prised his father no end when he rode his 250cc bike for the first time in competition and did one heck of a good Job. In regards to leathers: Saw a very good argument for wearing both tops and bottoms. Bill Dobbs took a spill and fell on his pipe at one of the other tracks. When he went to separate himself from his bike the skin on his stomach had other ideas and the result was one very bad burn. Another one on the sick list is Bruce Yoakam, who sprained his ankle in baseball practice and now the only thin g he' s steer ing is his crutches. Steve Tinsley, I' m gonna get you. You let me believe you were Exper t, ins tead of telling me those are the plates from another track, I beli eve anything. Hope your Mini- Bike breaks down, Happy Birthday to 4lP, Pat " Magnitude" Lynch , who according to his wife and others, had some party Saturday night, and gotan extra bonus when he won his class, For all the pros and cons about the track, Mr. Skeel hit the nail on the head, when he said, " If no one has to be taken away in an ambulance you have a fa bulous course." So far, this has been the case, as no one has bee n hurt In the two scrambles held. • Can' t knock those averages. .....................................
