He went Into the lead and steadily pulled away from Tom Clarke, Wayne Hosaka and Terry Dorsch, who, eventually gClt a third for his efforts behind Ted Sloan. Sloan couldn't catch Hateley and had to keep Dorsch out of his second place slot, and It was nip and tuck racing for the whole maln event; In fact, at the fln1shllne, the last four places were In contention at the flagl Chuck Hart and Loren Andres were paired off and right behind them were Randy Ell1s and Bob Ferrill, all 'f our giving It everything. I have never seen a course that was better marked, and the mileages agreed with my own so closely It was almost eerie. The results w1l1 not be know for about three weeks. Among the possible winners are Bob Steffan's Greenhorn teammates, Dave Ekins and Paul Hunt. Also seeking the win were Eddy Day, Rick ThornwaUson, Bob Ewing, and Mike Patrick. GEORGE ROEDER TO ATTEMPT COMEBACK George Roeder, one of our greatest one-mUe dirt track racers is com1ng back to racing. After a two year retirement Roeder, remembered as National Number 94, was entered at Springfield•. Ohio last weekend on a Harley-Davidson XR 750. Winner of around a dozen National championships Roeder was second In AMA Championship standlngs twice and In 1963 missed being Grand National Champion by one point. He will be seen campalgnlng behind number 3F this year.
