The track is under the management of two time Mexican National Champion, Faustino Rodriguez, and w1l1 be the site for racing at least once a month. Peralto was followed to the f1n1sh line by Romo on a Montesa, and Guzman on another Carabella. Current National Champion Vecchi was forced to drop from the race when his BSA developed mechanical difficulties. Vecchi, however, managed a win in the 650cc class. In the 200cc class, Rudolfo Pena defeated Peralta for top honors. Martinez, on a Mexican built Yamaha, was the winner in l25cc competition. Rodriguez said that he would gladly furnish a motorcycle to anyone on vacation in Mexico and wishlng to compete at the new track. TWICE MONTHLY RACES SET AT FAIRGROUNDS IN ANTELOPE VALLEY Class A Speedway motorcycle racing, featuring many of the nation's top riders, w1l1 be hel d twice monthly at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, starting Sunday afternoon, April 12. According to Peter Palmer, president of the sponsoring Great Bear Enterprtses, the races w1l1 be held on Sunday afternoons through the 'spring, summer and fall . Entries w1l1include such standouts as Steve Bast, Sherman Oaks, present U.S. short-track champion; Sonny Nutter, Culver City, reigning Callfornla titUst; Rick Woods, Huntington Beach, 1968 U.S. king; Mike Bast, the teen-age wonder ; and, Paul Conserriere, Redondo Beach, former U.S. Novice Champion. The Lancaster track measures 300 yards and is reportedly ideal for the Speedway cycles. Practice for the April 12 opener will be held on sun., Aprll 5. Admission prices are set at $2.50 for adults, $1.50 for Juniors, 12-16, 50 cents for children, and those under six free. Free parking and programs are included in the tab. A large picnic area on the fairgrounds has also been provided. .
