Rider At Modesto Meet

MODESTO, CALIF . Mar. 29, 1970 - It
was an action packed afternoon for those
attending the annual Modesto M.C.
Scrambles event, though the action v,'asn't
strictly limited to the track.
One young competitor had an altercation with the starter at the beginning at
one event, and this unexpla1nably led to
another Incident with the same young
man.
The trackslde action was also great In
almost every maln event, with only a fe w
runaways. Jim Foley, the number one
man In District 36, rode a very smooth
250 Expert Main, beating John Green and
Dennis Huff by a s11m margin.
"Foley's work was only slightly less
difficult In the Main, as Al Kenyon, the
initial leader, suffered the misfortune
at a broken chain.
Scott Brelsford continued his domination at the 250cc Amateur class, with a
decisive win over Pete Ford. After his
next birthday, Brelsford will Join the
Expert ranks riding his Sonny Kenyon
Bultaco In class C competition.
Lee Rice survived another onslaught at
250cc Novices, ta king the checkers In
four heats and a semi.
George Graham closed his eyes and
won the 175cc' Novice affalr after falling
In a try for first place In the heat. He bid
to ride the semi to make ,the maln, and
won It easily.
Rayce Wilson scored an excellent victory In the 100cc Novice event with one
at those rare runaways.
The 350 and 500 Novice event was
combined, with three Bandldo Bultacos
doing their thing.
The 500cc and Up Amateur class was
combined, also, with JIm Conlan laking
home the big brass.
In the big bore Expert go, young Kenny
Roberts got by Ray Huff on the third lap
and rode his Montesa Into the winner's
circle. '

SEATTLE, WASH. March 22, 1970 - It
was Scrambles time Sunday, as the
Greater Seattle M.C. hosted a very fine
demonstration at racing.
The fUteen year and under class put
on a real good show, with Randy Scum
(Yamaha) w1nn1ng theA Main hands down,
and Dale Shippy, aboard a Bul, picking
at! riders for a win In the B division.
The 100-l25cc class A Main was won
easily by Kew T1mllck on a Yamaha. In
the C Main, Bill Health was running first,
when his bike quit on the last lap, and
Darrell Hendrickson rode Into the top
spot.
Another Hendrickson, Alan, won the
200cc A Main on a KawasaId.
