Yamahas captured the first 4 positions again this year. Kel's tuner was Don Vesco, who chortled, " 1 should have done this years agol" Vesco usually rides his own Iron. Gould creditS tuner Randy Hall for his hot setup. _ DuHamel rode on Goodyears. Kel used 'Bl emizall 011 In the w1nn1ng Yamaha. First place collected $1,150 prize money In addition to several hundred dollars In contingencies. Lap times were as low as 2 minutes, 18 seconds In the early laps around the 3.81 mile coursejust under 100 mph. Earlier in the race Chuck Palmgren (Yam) was challenging DuHamel for 3rd place until his engine slowed and he dropped out. Several 350Cc four-strokes were competing under the new A MA f or mula.
