By lap 78 Rockwood was becoming very serious about annexing 2nd place and Skip was beginning to pace himself. Houchins had his own Ideas about the 2nd place pay -oU, though, and it took To m all of 90 laps to make good his threat . About this time Eddie Mulder experienced engine troubled, and just to compound ma tters , a flat tire.
