Super Bruce Gets Moral Victory ~
The far-out part of all this Is that the
Bullaco's rear brake rod popped out of
place and McGuire was riding the high
speed course by over revving his engine
to slow down for the turns. That proved
to be his down fall and with a big lead in
the closing laps the piston seized long
enough to stop Bruce's ride and give the
win to Steffans. The Bultaco restarted
and McGuire finished down In the pack.
In the next moto Bruce was leading
again. He told us, "I looked around and
saw I had a good lead so I slowed down a
11ttle but I took It too easy and crashed
In the sandwash;' His nose dive In the
rolling hummocks seemed to be caused
by not using enough wheel lifting power
but he didn't even kill the engine and was
up and away In a twinkling.
Steffans was second place in the second
moto until he began having shifting
trouble and succumbed to the presure
put on by Bill Payne•
. MIke Chamberlain won the 500 Senior
race ahead of Bill .Bogner, while Steve
Scott and Bob Vacca tied for first in the
125 Senior go.
