BAKERSFIELD, CAL. Jan. 11, 1970Prepared to perfection. the Poso Park
motocross course wascomplemented by
ideal weather last weekend with just
enough soft raindrops to make everyone
feel very Euopean.
Russ Darnell brought his European
racing experience to the Open Senior
class ' and he was pitted against Bob
Grossi and Bob Bowers.
These fine stars put on races all day,
with style that makes a champion. Poso
Park suited Russ and Bob, and soon
became a real field of battle. Darnell
bested Grossi for 2 out of 3 motos by
sllght~gins :

Gene Cannady and his Sachs was the
master in the 125 Sr. class. taking all
three motos in fine style.
Ken Bonnefin and his Husky was vic torious over hard charging Doug Wheeler
and his " International Motorcycles" C-Z
in the 250 Jr .-1 class. Talented scrambles rider. Jeff Johnson riding "Custom
Engineering's" perfectly prepared Suzuki 250 Savage, showed everyone he is
" at home" on a motocross circuit as
well.
The 250 Sr. class found MIkeSpier and '
his Matco, winning over Ron Miller.
Husky and MIke Best. Ossa, in the
tightest, hardest fought races of the day.
This entire class put on a rear crowd
pleaser each time out.
Vince Clark and his " Hot Hodaka"
bested a good field of the smaller bikes
- taking 2 out of 3 motos, losing out to
Larry Greer. also Hodaka in one moto,
Phil Taylor continued his winning ways
Matco mounted in the 125 Jr. I class,
with Tom Garrett taking the 125 Jr. II
with ease.
When not 'racing " Big Time" in the
four wheelers, from Indy to Riverside.
George Snider returns to his " fun" sport
of motocross racing. George won the
three motes by a good margin in the
Open Jr. Division.
