recent 810- Poke EDduro, so namec;t DOt as
an lDdlcation 01 the pace, but because It
was sponsored by the Slo-Poke Motorcycle Club of Napa, CaJ1f.
The Nov. 30 Enduro co1nc1ded wltII the
long 'Ibanksg1v111g Day weekend. It attracted over 600 entrants from all over
Northern CaJ1f., including a few members
01 tile fairer sex. Many riders camped
near tile start tile nlgbt before, presumablY to bave tIIelr bikes all set for "go"
and to be fresh for tlleir starting times.
BonfIres warded off tile cbll1 for tIIose
encamped and provided a cheery atmosphere for tile long night's watt.
The race against time and terrain
started at 8 a.m. It was a cold morning
and Ice was on the grounds as the riders
fleXed their muscles and made last
minute checks on bikes for the ordeal
abead.
Cballenpng was tbe course, wltII a lot of
downbll1 riding and Icy patches tbat tile
sun didn't get a chance to melt. The 120
mile run, according to information from
tile Bultaco of Fremont team, was well
laid out and tile event Itself well organized. Sunday evening found some riders
still out and It was about one a.m. by the
time tile last man struggled in. The test
of muscle and stamina caused some to
spend anotller night aDd put off tIIelr
homeward trek unW Monday, wilen it was
easier to put their weary bones In gear.
It was a fine Enduro aDd everyone seemed
