Signup runs from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and there are classes for ages from 6 to 14 and over, and engines of from one to 7 horsepower and over. Th'ere'U be free entries for out of state riders and a free engine awarded to the riders from farthest away. Aldana 'A'nd Team Racing Liven Up Perris gy Elaine Jones PERRIS, CALIF, Dec. 6, 1969 - The whole racing program at Perris, Callf. was overhaul ed thls week to add a new attraction, team racing. The regular race was a "ten lap, winner-take.all. Marty Davis and Jim Howerton leaped out on top In the 100cc Novice Class and tied down first and second early. Mark Revels was In there for a whlle, but somethlng' went wrong and he pulled off early. Gary Scott picked up his first win of the night In the 100cc Amateur-Expert Class. Hard riding Bob Sanders gave hlm a good run and made Gary ftghHor every foot of hls lead. Sal Peluso, a new face got up to take thlrd. Dave Davis grabbed himself a good lead In the l25cc Novice Class and never gave It UP. Jon MUdd, David Burnett, and Greg Whlte followed hlm home. Hank Scott beat his brother Gary In the l25cc Amateur-Expert Class. Gary was doing fine until he had a mechanical problem, and Richard Sanders and Paul Lambert went on by. Gary got thlngs perkin' again, but It was too late. Steve Mudd finally broke Bob Greenstreet's hold on the 250cc Novice Class. It -was a down to the wire affalr with Bob blowing it when he missed a shlftcoming down the back side. Jim Fishback and Chuck Davis were thlrd and fourth. Everything broke loose In the 250cc Amateur-Expert ranks when the riders saw David Aldana'S number on the heat board. When a rider as renowned as Dave is riding, It brings the other riders way up and It sure did. Gary Scott was looking to make uP for the fourth place In the l25cc Class. Dave, Gary, and Carl Byers were like Siamese Triplets. Somethlng had to give and that somethlng was David. Gary carried on from there, and took his second victory for the night. These three guys were so close that Carl Byers who took second came through the pits with a thumb that 10Qked like apiece of chopped liver. Bruce Yoakam, second, was the only one who even got a little bit close. Walt Hansen and Richard Sanders were thlrd and fourth. Away .we went again when David Aldana showed up on the line for the Open Moto. Andy Skeel wanted to get hlm In the worst way and did off the line, butlt was short liVed as Andy'S Harley didn't have the power Dave's Ossa was putting out. The team racing was a new Idea with each class having It's own relay. Amateur and Experts were paired with NovIces and a team was composed of two riders.
