Something went wrong and Dennis broke down and Bob made some errors and it ended up in a whole new ballgame. Frank Eggers and Bob Greenstreet led over the line and number four was Bob K11ne. Tom White and his yeliowBultacotook the 250Cc Amateur class with Chuck Claydon picldng up his second 2nd of the day on his big Greenstreak. Ron Powell on his KawasaJd powered through to take the 250Cc Expert Class followed by Ron Moore and Gary Scott who picked up his second third of the day with Danny Hoclde fourth. The Side Hacks were out again this week and put on some good 4-way goes. Don Sarlan and pilot Donald Belt were leading when the team of Tom Rldyard and Crash Roesch slipped by in the esses and kept the lead for the rest of the day. These guys are something else again said one spectator, "No wonder kids thlnk adults are crazy'" • Bob Greenstreet repeated his 350 Novice win from last week on that new Bultaco going way, way away. Yoakam and Prior went Bruce-ing· round and round again in some real good clashes and contrary to the duel they had Saturday nlgbt, Bruce Yoakam came out on top this time. Andy Skeel (H-D) put on some great kind of show in the 350- 500 Amateur class as he far oulpoweredall tbeothers. Jimmy Stein, using body english allover tbe place, tried to do tbe.samethingwith his C Z but it just cpu1dn·t be done. These two put on some of tbe most exciting racing of tbe day. Chuck Wheat Jr. and C.H. Wheat gave a replay of last week with Cbuck Jr. going away and DaddY, Sunday driving, br1ng1ng up the rear. Jim Connolly and Dwtgbt Harlow were SllDdw1cbed in be- tween. Mike Boyle took a "close" dec1s1onin the 650 Novice Class over Frank Close, but the real battle came in the Amateur Class with Perry Armstrong coming out on top. Terry Dorsch, sandy Armstrong, Tony Den1us and Terry Moratrt;y had to flnd out who bad the fastest Triumph when the 650 Experts went aUt. If not tbe fastest Triumph, at least the riders with the most gusts as by this time it had gotten dar k, the track was very dry and it took one lap before the spectators could see the riders OF breathe. Terry seemed to bave the most of both as he collected the gold. (R~sults on page 16) .,.",, S'••, & ,. Sat. Night Nov. 22 - It was COLD,and that was enough to make the racers pour it on. The biggest battle was fought when the big riders pulled out all the stops together. Bill Manley on his giant Norton had power allover the place and for a relative stranger to Perris seemed to know where the slot was. Mike Posey had his Triumph running for the first time in four weeks, was in there elbowing but tangled with the sweeper and lost. The term "wheel to wheel" doesn·t say it for BUI and Mike since they were more like shoulder to shoulder. A lot of credit bas to be given to Andy Skeel on his Harley. This guy rode like something else again. The Novice Moto had its share of hard racing when the Bruces, Prior and Yoakam went at it. Both were Harley mounted and each wanted very much to win. Bruce Prior won the ftrst heat with no trouble. In the second go it was Bruce Yoakam out on top and he stayed there till the f1na1 lap when Bruce p. slipped through and grabbed itaway. In the final heat it was Prior all over again. LeroY Davis (Mon) and Don Harrison (Bul) were third and fourth. Toby Stanford (Hod) had his nlgbt as be took tbe l00cc Novice Class and Wayne Whisenant (Yam), who always seems to bave problems, figured them out and took the second t11gI1t of 100Cc Novices. As usual the'l00cc Amateur/ExperUs always full of good talent and they never fail to put on a fine show. It was Doug Mason's n1gbt to be king of the mounatn but it wasn·t easy flghting off the likes of Chuck Claydon, Bill Dobbs and Bob Sanders, all mounted on those crazy, fast baby Greenstreaks. Jim Kl1ne, looking that Perris Amateur rating rtgbt in the eye, topped George Gillespie, Jon Mudd, and Kay Kanak1to take the 125cc Novice Class. Needless to say they all rode Yamabas. Paul Lambert Jr. (Yam) and Doug Hannon (Bul) were the winners of the 250CC Novice Classes. Loyal Penn who bas had nothing but bad luck f1nal1Y overcame it all and took the 250Cc Amateur/ExpertCLass.Cbuck Claydon on the big daddY of his baby Greenstreak put up a heck of a good figbt. He took the f1rst heat going away, but couldn't outfox Loyal in tbe other two. Tom White on .his yellow Bultaco tried but couldn' t get through. (Results on page 16) w.
