Nov. 9, 1969 - The Highsider's gruellng motocross three miles nortb of Indio, Cal. held a variety of surprises for the riders and tbegloomy, wet morning turned out 10 be a fine day of racing. Yamaha rider Earl Roe!>eler dominated tbe 250 class but Dale Teubner was able to hold down a tight second. The big bores caused the usual excitement when Joe Muleneax won the first moto but a very rapid American Eagle 405 won tbe second. The Eagle led the final moto but dropped back due to trouble. Nov. 9, -1969 - The tide came In Wednesday night in the form of a black cloud and slayed untu Friday a.m. when the salvage crew came In to pump out botb tbe north and south turns oniy to find out there was no hard bottom In the south turn. The heavy equipment was then called ill and Bob Rankin worked untu 10 a.m. Saturday night cutting a new south turn. After wheel packing for afewmlnutes, the track turned out to be one of the fastest (without adding water) of the year. The 250 Am./Exp. and big bores had to get all their points In two-motos for they were rained out. Bob Hardison, Mike Hannon, and Ron Ringer topped the field as the rain came down, immediately turning the track into a slick field which let Jim Raymond and Mike Hannon do a little balancing demonstration on sliding machines. The big bores ended In a tie and left Mike Chamberlain and Martin Baluskl each with a moto. Results on that one will be decided In two weeks with a trophy dash between the two with the winner deciding between money and trophies. It was Jim Raymond's first time at the track, but that didn't slow him down from his record at Trojan where he took ail three motos In the 100-125 Am./Exp. class. Kirk Redding, Rich Sweaney and Bob Saunders on Ka wasakls had to settle for second, third, and fourth respectively Tom Burcham snatched the ttrst motos and dropped It on Lap 2 of tbe last moto but managed to maintain the point lead over Dave TUdor. Vincent Zlne, Jim Shipman and Dave Rinehart took top honors in the 250 Nov. Main. Tests show 5% to 10% horsepower increas~. It works especiallY well with-2-strokes. A 250 Yamaha DT- I picked uP 500 rpm and 3 horsepower. It also improves mileage. Only drawback: It keeps plugs so clean It Is difficult to get a true reading. The name of this chemical wonder is "Fast" and It is at all Bullaco Western dealers.
