WICHITA, KANSAS November 9 - Barrelllng his 360 CZ through a rough, muddy. cross-country course against only three other European champions. world 250Cc Champ Joel Robert notched two firsts and a second place in three motos to take top glory at the Kansas Inter-Am, Sunday. Jere Stodulka, the sUm, silent Czech placed second and American Barry Higgins tallled third to make It a grand slam for the CZ brand. Of 18 starters only seven finished all three motos. thanks to a mudhole soaker that drowned out a good many racing engines. 500cc World Champion Arne Kring (Hus) had a nice lead in the first moto before going out with a broken rear shock absorber. He returned to ride subsequent motos, but the damage to his standings wa'S already done. While batWng with Joel in the 3rd moto his wheel collapsed, ending the day for Kring. European Husqvarna team man Chrlster Ham margren also fared badly in the second moto and didn'Ulnish, after placing 2nd In the first leg. Gordon Dusenberry spent more time courting the prairie girls in the pits than perhaps he sbould have, and was late to the starting Uoe at least once. Tom Ledbetter tended to business. but suffered mecbanical problems with his Eagle. Barry Higgins again topped the U.S_ standings, adding proof to the contention that he Is the best American motocross racer today. His few months of racing In Europe this season, arranged by his sponsor. Ghost Motorcycles of New York, Joel Jets To Inter-Am Victory '- has paid off.
