the dance and carefully returned along
the fog-shrouded Ensenada streets to
their hotels and the camp ground at the
football (soccer) stadium.
The camp ground was made available,
complete with modern rest rooms and
showers (cold) for 5M per person wIlich
the tour hosts paid. The accommodations were satisfactory as camping fac1l1t1es go, but the 40 degree pre-dawn
temperatures got some of the campers
uP to build bonfires.
By the Sunday 9 a.m. hour of the rescheduled uniform Judging, more than
half of the tour riders were alreadY
headed for the border and home. Some
riders came from as far as Napa,
California,- and several Arizona license
plateS' were also observed.
With so many riders more interested
in getting back on the road than Judging
the wilted and dirty uniforms, the parade was also canceled and the mighty
exodus to the border began in earnest.
In order to pay for the beautiful private dance hall and band, the traditional
sterling silver Aztec Calendar pins that
the oid Cycle News Tour has been famous for in past years, were replaced
by inexpensive celluloid "politleal campaign" type buttons. The change caused
complaints but those who wanted the

pins· enough, bought them in local shops.
Although the tour came in the wake of
the big Norra Mexican 1000 Race, it
brought a welcome influx of American
money and machinery to the Mexican
seaport. The merchants enjoyed the
money and the townspeople enjoyed seeing the motorcycllS'ts' choppers and
exotic customs.
For their first effort at putting on a
big International Tour, The Terrapins
Motorcycle Club did a remarkably fine
job. Should they continue to sponsor thl!
Annual Ensenada Tour, the experience
of this year's tour should prove invaluable for future events.
