Larry Stapleton (Yam) took the GrouP One class and Loyal Penn (Yam) got his second win of the night in the Am./Ex. class. Chuck Tidwell (Mat) and Bruce Yoakam (Hon) had the Novice Moto up for grabs until the final heat when Bruce blew it by crashing and ended uP in fourth place. Bruce Prior (H-D) moved into second and Larry Stapleton (BSA) ptcked uP third. The E1lpert MotosawSandYArmstrong (Trt) beat off a strong attack by Vlnce Graves (Mat) who really turned on by the third heat but didn't quite have enouch to catch the man on the Triumph. Perry Armstrong (Tn) f1n1shed a close third with Bob Rudd (Hon) fourth. The Sweepstakes was captured by our newlywed Kirk McDowell mounted on Gary Oaldwell's Kawasaki. Sept. 28,1969- After two restarts due to !lrst turn spills and no less than five false starts the nervous field of 650Cc Experts was led around the Fremont track by Allen Kenyon aboard his BSA. Allen was followed across the line by another BSA rider, Bill Budde. The Eastside M.C. promoted its Bob Garretson benefit scrambles on the Fremont Raceway track which is built f.t\,the bed of an old lake. One end of the course the old banks form a perfect balI circle and the track is laid out to incl)lde this higb banked turn. This is a full throttle sweeper and it is famous'as the "Daytona" turn. With riders assigned to some 36 heat races just to get to the main it was a full day for everyone.
