The Visalia Ramblers M.C. again staged the1rannual nat track program at the fantastic halt- n..... m1le. Lloyd Houchins (2Oy) ran away with the Expert Main atter a close battle with Jim Odom. Jim went higb coming out 01. lura two on the fourth 1a,p and bit the wall on the narrow back straight. Odom pulled into the pits atter a great save, but he took a triP to the bospital with a badly bruised arm and leg. The Expert Final was called on the seventh 1a,p wilen Mike Haney, twice winner 01. the monthly Tulare TI', fell in turn two and took Pat Gosch down and out with bim. Gosch went to the hospital but later came back to the fair a bit shaken. A good second went to Bruce Anderson with fastest Expert qual1f1er Shorty Seabourne coming acroas third. Keith Mashburn buzzed bis 350Cc Yamaha to the Amateur win ahead 01. Dave Aldana. Dave did another catch-uP-fromlast-place act, passing third place Frank Gillespie with two 1a,ps to go. Frequent Tulare TI' winner Tod Sloan rode to a smooth Novice wtnatter favorites Fred Edwards, John Hateley and Don Erode all retired with engine problems. Iowa S\lP8l' star, Lynn Holloway, was down on power on a Yamaha twin but outrode a number 01. riders to capture fourth place beh1Dd Sloan, BU1 Morgan and Allan Kenyon. The upset 01. the II1gbt came in the ttrst Amateur heat race when Terry Sage (7OZ) beat Dave Aldana by halt a straightaway length. Keith Mashburn won the other yellow-plate heat. Expert heats went to Shorty Seabourne and Jim Odom, who turned in the fastest six 1a,ps 01. the evening at 2:48.40.
