Because calf roplne and bulldocelne would be over complicated by lumpy motorcycle jumps the local lumber company had to come to the rescue with portable terrain. Steve Woerner got a good start and held first place for five laps wbile belng constantly plagued by Bill Busey. Meanwbile, Cwnlngbam was worklng bls way thro~ the pack and passed tIIem both 011 the slxtb lap. Woener seemed to get tired and Busey got by to take over second place and held it to the flnlsb. In tile Yamaha dom1nated l25cc class, Ron Sklnner llked first place so well he beld it from start to flnsb. Lonn1e Murphy and Juan Guzman were battllng for second place with Murphy baving the s11gbt edge. Guzman looked good however, and as soon as be gets some experlence he 18 golng to be to~ to beat. Bill Kreje1, atter having a cast removed from bls leg a week before the event, rode a beautiful wire to wire first place 10 the 20000 maln. In the last two laps Bill was harassed by Vern Tranberg and be really bad to do bls stuff to keep ahead of hIm. The 250 Novice was the largest class as usual. After the ele1m1natlons, 1t was narrowed down to a twelve man maln and on tbls track that 1s qu1te a llneup. Dennis Plmley came out of the hole llke gangbusters with Ken LIghthouse right atter bim. P1mley held it untll the first lap when he fell and Lighthouse took over. UWASA" Headquarters BEACH CITIES CYCLES 525 N. EI Camino Real San Clemente, California n14U92-il41 Plmley stlU managed to p1ck it up and flnlsh a strong second ahead of Erwin McPherson. The comblned 250 Amateur-Expert maln turned 1oto a crash spectacle when Bill Alve10 got off 10 the switch backand JIm Fllck1nger slld 1oto blm. Two of Nevada's top ten, Barclay Trehal and WIndy Foreman were way ahead and were not at all pleased when the black flag fell to stop the race for the ambulance. At the restart, however, they were rlgbt out in front agaln atter passlng Steve Young. Trehal came in first with Foreman' rlgbt on bis rear wheel. Jack Pine and bls well prepared Honda . did 1t to all those two-strokes 10 the 375 Novice class agaln. Jack led from start to flnlsh with no pressure from the rest of the pack. Leroy Kay was a firm second when r1ders started fal1lng all over the track. Ted Webb took tbls advantage and moved 1oto tblrd place for the flnlsh. The Open Novices were uP next with Lee Curtis leadlng for four laps when bometowner Fred Rogers took over. Fred held it for two laps when he fell and was passed by Curtis and Ed Vogele, Charlie rode a beautiful race, complete with fancy slldes and large rooster-talls which brought the crowd to 1ts feet. In the first few laps Barclay Trehal was back again, nudglng Charlie a little harder and came through to win second. The next race 10 Fallon will be held at the FaIrgrounds on Sunday, September 21st.
