Since you often have tour reports on
trips around the West I thought you
might be lnterested In a little different
part of the world.
I had tile money and was feeling rich
so 1 stopped In at GeofI Dodldng's shop
in London and bought a brand new shiny
black Clubman' Veellne Mk 11. Three
weeks later It was so dirty and crudy
people thought It was an old used bikehow sad.
I knew the weatiler would be bad
around this time, February, In England
and Europe but I was tired of working
and going to school and didn't want to
put off tile triP.
That first 500 mUes was real work in
the ralD, snow, and cold. The bike has
drop bars to go witil tile fairing (which
is a lifesaver In the cold). I'm not sure
who got broken m, me or the bike, even
my ears hurt from the new riding glasses I had. After 3000 miles I still got a
palo at the base of my neck and Into the
left shoulder. I guess that's the price you
pay for look1ng like a G. P. star. How do
those guYs in the 12 and 24 hour races
do It?
Two things .about the short tour around
southern Engla.t:d. 1 stopped to seeamud
scrambles, the type that you hear so
much about. Personally, It was not as
good as I thought It would be. Some of the
experts and juniors looked impressive
