Aug. 17,196 9At the monthly Deadma n's Point motocross beld Sunday, Robert Paxton just couldn' t bold ot: the relentle ss charge of Jerry wUmon who put his Mateo in the winner' s circle two out of three times in the lead on the first laP of motos one and two. Wilmon nibbled away at his lead and passed Paxton in each of the first two motos. Ron Peterso n fell in the first moto but brougbt his Yamaha back to lead the first laP of the third moto. Once again Wimoo set his sights on the leader and passed Peterso n on laP four. This time bowever, Jerry crasbed his leading Matco and Peterso n went on for the win. The Seniors and Juniors were scored separat ely so WUmon bad gained enougb points to take the Open Junior crown and Peterso n got the glory in the 250 Senior class. George Spellman, who 15 still sorting out his new 250 Ossa was second Senior and Jack Cotban was scored third for the day in the Open Junior. Jim Roberts on, riding a Penton, followed Geral Yarbrou gh across the line in the first 125 ride but Geral threw his chain the next time out and Jim waS there for the win. Roberts on bad a 2-1-5 for the day whicb made him victor when matched against Yarbrou gb's 1-8·2. The WUsford :family and their Hodakas did it in the lOOCc d1v1sions. Frank Sr. turned in a 4-1-1 in his division while Frank Jr. pulled at! the bat trick and won all three of his races. The 250 Divisio ns were a Yamaha sweep. Jay Ferris and Robert Whitlock were one-two in Division one, wbile Robert Paxton and Ron Matheny did it to them in the second division . Deadma n's Point entrepr eneur, Bob Dressla r, recently acquire d a Cataptl ler 0-6 so look for some changes in the motocr oss landsCl\P8 next month.
