John Rice, Gary Bailey, Ron Nelsou and Loon1e Peterso n were some of the better known riders. Proving that he should be better known was Amateu r Blackw ell. His C-Z gal'e fits 10 Ba11ey's Greeve sln the flrst two events. He fell In the flrst two races but came tJack for a seeood (behind Balley) In the last. Peterso n bad some flrst corner tough luck In the flrst race and ended up slld:h. Two lhlrds In the next events netted h1m a lhlrd avera! • Nelsou came out for the second event on a C-Z and the lasteve nt on a Mateo. He just never got with it though. Ba1Jey got out ahead of West In the second race but it was really close. The last event found Ba11ey tJack In the heap again and West out In troot. He was riding better than even be knew be could and Bailey could 0D1Y m&lIlIg1! a second. (You've got to ~t off the line). The 125 Juniors were splltinl o two big division s. '!be flrstdtv ision was guided In each molo by Illlve Rodger s on a Bultaco . Anothe r Bultaco p1lo1ed by M. Cook did justice 10 the race. Uootrlc1al1y Rodger s was flrst averall with Cook second although Rodger s fell and took a saUd last on the last lap of the third molo. The battle of the day took place In the second div1ston of 125 Juniors . 1be flrst race saw a youthfu l shoe by the name of Dawson 1eadiIlg from start 10 flnish. Dean York and Bob Fort1er dldD'tle th1m run away with it althoug h they concentrated Primari lY on beating each other. In their second race Fortier and York had another lead swappin g duel but this time abead of Illlwson who f1n1shed third behind York (second ) and Fortter . The lhlrd race was a repeat of the flrst as tar as f1na1 position but nobody In the crowd conside red it a rerun. The 125 Experts bad a lough act 10 follows but they more than manage d. Off the line flrst was John Rice. Close behlnd, on another Sachs, was Joe Ve1l1on. Somewb ere- In the JllIcl< was steelma n ~Y. When Rice blew a sh1tt, VlenOll took over.
