This year, however, Sammy and Vic Boocock, Northern CalUorn1a Trials Champion, completely ran away with the Saddleback Park Event. There were 12 Sections of va.ry1ng degrees of dl.ff1culty and each was ridden 6 times. Sammy drogped a mere 28 points. Vic, who spent nearly a month competing In England this year including the Scottish Six Dll.ys, proved his mettle with a loss of only 39 marks. The SCTA's President, Bob Grove, was tops among the locals with a 99 point deficit, next was John Walters and Bob Nickelson. John and Bob each dropped 115, but Walters 31 cleans edged Bob's 25 zero scores. The previous day had been used for a school for Master and Expert riders with Sammy giving tips on machine preparation and then laying out some demonstration sections to ride. As the local boys attempted the sections, Sammy pointed out the proper line and gave advice to ald the riders style. Over 4 hours of instructions were Involved and undoubtedly much was learned.
