A man who three short years ago was a spectator and due the sport so mucb that he wanted to be a pari of it. ThIs man Is now tltty years of age. He became a Green Plater a year and a halt ago but before that time he gave much. His protession Is PbotDgrapby and many of you prohably have received a picture taken by him and at no charge because to him it was a gift of love tor a spori and ot his love of those who participate In it. A piece of his work haqfs over the SD8cl< bar and is a fine example of his talent" Because of his enthusiasm his whole tamily are active riders and credit their tather with starting them. The name of the man and a credit to the sport is Paul Lambert Sr. HIs son Paul Jr. and Paul's wife Sandra are Amateurs and Ron and MIke are Novices. On behalf of all riders, Novice or otherwise, a most hearttelt thank you tor the good and unselfisb things you have done to better the sport. We truly appreciate it. Kay Kanald has been racing about a year and a half and balls from Fontana. He has recently graduated to a 125cc bike and would like to gel a big bike eventually but will work his way uP slowly and gain experience to go with It. One thing Kay didn't tell me is the tact that he Is a straight A student which Is no easy trick and gives you a pretty good Idea of the caliber of riders today. Last Saturday Kay ran his first desert race and was so excited at Just finishing he torgot to turn in his tank card. By the time he remembered he had lost about 25 places. HIs parents are afraid of the sport he has chosen as a hobby but sometimes they come out and walch and maybe one day they will come to like it as much as Kay does. BIll Dobbs is a winner and has proven this on many occasions out here. BIll is sixteen and baI1s also trom Fontana. Bill has no suPPOrt trom his tam.Uy and has to pay his. own way where his bike and racing are concerned. His goal Is Ascot and his determination will get him there. BIll took the second beat Saturday and was so tickled he pulled a wheelie down the return road and his Suzuki got away trom him and he ended uP sitting on his pride on the good oid terra firma. lf BIll Isn't here every Saturday, don't worry he Is just short of money but he'll' make It as he Is a winner and you can't keep them down. . J1m Clubb inherited his love of racing trom his Dad who raced twenty years ago around Palm Springs and had no Idea what a track was but did knowitwas tun. Dad Is DOW the chief mechanic not only tor J1m but tor his brother Leroy. Jim has only been racing a month and a half and Is placing so the only way to go is uP. 'Up' to Jim is Ascot and it's a good target. Mom Is not too keen on the sport and has suPport· trom J1m's girlfriend who did come out to give moral and first ald if needed but still said it scared her, Bob Sanders and Bob KlIne have done it again and tor the tUth straight week have taken borne the gold. Next week they will probably open a trophy shop. More about you next week. .allllo" .o'ocross Sep,.6&7 Motocross racers will meet in the middle of California at Mammoth Lakes, on HwY. 395 north ot Bishop, September 6 and 7 to do battle tor $1,200 in Senior cash prizes. The Mammoth Moto-X is the only race in the U.S. that runs entirely on U.S. Forest Service domain. Its promoting club, the HJgil Sierra M.C. says the Inyo Forest Is the t1nest motocross country in the land, and those whO've been there agree. It Is a dustless, porous pumice surface in some ot the most scenic of the Sierras. Entries close Sept" 1st. There'll be three classes (125, 250 and 500cc) in Senior and Junior divisions. Jim Wilson will be coming all the way hack trom Europe tor this one, it's that great. Address pre-entries ($3 tor Junior riders, $7 tor Seniors) to P.O. Box 482, Mammoth Lakes, Calif. 93546.
