It was a grand sweep for Yamaha. Bob Frauenberger, 568x, mounted on a Bultaco was the only one brave enough to go against the seven Yamahas that made up the class. Don't let them scare you Bob. The 250cc class also had a large turnout and ran two groups. Group "A" saw the first American Eagle at .Perris wln all tbree heats very convincingly. I had to find out who tbls new rider was and you guessed It. The new rider was none other than Bob Kline, 953x. He manages every week to do some- fBRI BN REED INDUCTION FOR MOST PISTON TIMED & TWO-CYCLE ENGINES • The 8N REED INDUCTION with ported cylinder, slotted piston and 32 MM concentric carb, McCulloch pressure pulse carb, (We can supply either carb.) provides - • ULTIMATE IN SPEED TUNING • Up to 100% More Horsepower • No Loading Up • More Flex.ble RPM • Boost Port Scavenging • More Low End Torque • Cooler Running Engine • 8ettBr Breathing • Speed - Speed - Speed FOR THE FINEST EQUIPMENT SEE US 26 - . t S , - for C.uI... Las, B-12 (Suz.), all new to the wlnners circle were second tblrd and fourth. Group "B" had Dennis Creason, 052x (Bul.), right behind bim. Stew Cox, 386x (Bul.), was tblrd and Ron Bourbonnals 384mx (Kaw.), fourth. The slight disagreement from last week over the size of Bob Klines 175cc Kawasa.k:l was steelted In Bob's favor only after the bike was torn down and found to be only 174ccs and further handicapped by a broken ring. The Novice Moto saw John Jones, 486 (Mal.), become the tb1rd rider of the n1&ht to win all tbree heats by a great margin. Paul Finnell, 627 (Trl.), and Otis Wells, 118 (Trl.), tied for second with Jim Clubb, Z-3 (Mat.), tb1rd and Ray De Vally 275 (Trl.) fourth. It was good to see Jim place as last time out he had some bad luck and broke down. I am sorry to report some bad sportsmanship took place In the result booth after the racing when one of the owners (not a rider) complalned that they were not taking home a trophy. He did not win and no trophies were awarded to any other places. He seemed to feel that because they had come quite a distance and had never won out here they should get sometblng for just showing UP. He did admit that the races he entered had been run very fairly. Many, Manyrlders come great distances every week to ride and never compla1n. This Is whaf racing Is all about. When trophies have to be awarded for showing UP It will be a sad day for our sport. A special congratulation goes to Robert Sanders, Bob KUne and John Jones, the trople heat w1DDers wholookedmoreUke Experts than Novices. Question of the week: How much longer are the riders going to barrel through the parlclng lot before and after racing? Is It going to take an injury? Penton - Hodaka Yamaha - BSA Husqvarna Norton
