MARYSVILLE, CAL., June 29, 1969Triple M Speedway, e track of thrills
and spills aplenty. The heats got off in
good smooth order, no Cuss or muss, but
in the Mains It was a different story.
The 100 Novice got off alright and it
was Jerry Willis on a Suzuki taking it
from ;;tart to finish, with some prodding
from Robbie Robinson and Charlie Mc
Gimsey wbo battled royally for second.
In the 125 event it was Vick Krill,
caught napping on' the line so he didn't
get his usual good start but by the end of
the fir st lap he had the lead. To my
knowledge he hasn't lost a race this
season any place as he won Helvetia last
week and he was riding against the 200' s.
He also got second in the 15 laPper, all
on a 125 Yamaha, quite a rider and
machine.
The 200 Novice event saw an up and
coming rider taKe the checker in a come
from behind finish; Ed Brown rides all
types of events on a Bu! and is really
doing good. He has also trophied his
last few races.
The 250 Novice race was the race as
an over zealous bunch of riders lined uP
for the start. They got off the tine together wheelieing and fishtailing and in
the first turn several riders went down
and Mel Byers machine caught on fire,
they got the fire put out in a hurry but it
seemed the fire extinguishers wou!dn't
work and it was a few more minutes
before some one got over with one that
HELVETIA PARK, CAL., June 22, 1969
- The race as a whole was a roaring
success as many riders showed up from
all over to put on a excellent show. They
didn't get as many spectator:; as expected but the ones that did show had
some fine entertainment.
Jerry Willis, leading lOOcc novice
rider from the MaryS-ville track, got his
usual quick start and was goIng great
guns when he got into a little trouble and
had to drop out and Nell McDonald went
on to take the win.
Another top rider was Vlck KrI1l who
darted into the lead shortly after the start
and went on to show it doesn't matter
what track he rides on he is going to win
in the 200 class. Another rider to be
reckoned with is Ed Brown who finished
second and rode a beautiful race all
the way.
One of the closest races of the day was
in the 250 Amateur class between John
Green, Doug Sisemore, and Steve Young.
Doug took and early lead and it looked
like he was going to keep it even though
Steve and John were right on his tall
battling for second. Well, John finally
got around Doug. Steve still stayed in
worked; at least the machine didn't
burn uP.
Montie Gibson was there in his usual
good humor and if anything Is going to
happen he is the one it happens to. In his
race he and another rider creeped a
little to much so the starter 'made them
get hack and as Montle was moving toward the line out of gear the flag dropped
and left him on the line, which made him
happy. Coming out of the first turn, 10
and behold a tire in the mIddle of the
track from the previous race and that
was the straw that broke the camels
back, Marysville does get a little careless with tires being where they are not
suPposed to be. One of the closest battle
of the night was in the 200-250 Expert
bash between Merrill Beidleman on an
Ossa and Gary Lozano on a Bul. Merrill
was off the line like gangbusters with
Gary hot on his tall. In the heat Gary
laid back and bided his time and took
him in the last lap for a close win. In the
Main it shaped up the same way, except
lady luck stepped in to lend a hand, in
that Gary was pushing Merrill real hard
and he went a little wide and droPPed it.
In our Hack event Jean Ball brought
his wife along to ride passenger. What a
pro; she would lean out of the Hack just
inches from the ground and in doing so
helped him get around the corners pretty
fast. They took the Heat and Main.
For an exciting evening Marysville
is the place to head for Saturday nights,
Triple M Speedway at the Feather River
M/C Club sponsored races.

third, his Suzy didn't seem to have it to
advance any further.
Tmb800 Open Novice saw a variety of
bikes battle for the first three positions.
In the end it was Roy Tillis on a Montesa
wi th Paul Donaldson on a BSA second
and Mike Johnson on a Maico.
The fastest race of the day was the
Open Expert. It was a battle between
Jorgen Jorgensen and Ray Huff along
with Jim Sal tone. It was Ray and Jorgy
at first with Jorgy on a BSA 650 always
in command.
Gordon Septinelli was the victim of an
unfortunate accident as he and afewother
Polka Dots were laying out the Forest
Hill Run when around a corner he went
and into a cable stretched across the
road and that's all she wrote.
[t was one of the first such benefits
we had to put on in a long time andhope
we do not have another.
They raffled away one of Gordon's
bikes and what a beauty it was. Dick
Mann or Sammy TaMer I'm sure would
have like to have gotten their hands on
it as it was BSA Gold Star, wiMer of
more races [ thInk than any other bike.
Chuck Santore was the lucky wiMer and
he is of the Dirt Diggers North.
