Although there were a few minor spills, which included Davey Scott dropping his Suzuki 500 near turn two, the worst was probably that of Chuck Oveland. Something gave on him while coming into the last turn and as he was about to turn it on, his Bultaco went rigbtfrom under him. Luckily Oveland escaped with minor injuries. Probably the most exciting race of the day was the 350-500 open G.P. main in which Phil Makenna and Don Emde kept dicing for the lead. With only two laps left it looked as though Emde had it in the bag when suddenly his Yamaha 350 began havilll5 engine trouble. As the last lap came to a close it was Makenna, Marandino, and Emde barely making it across the finish line. Race number live, which included aLe Mans start, excited the many spectators who saw the Jr .-Sr. Production Main with a field of over twenty bikes. It was won by #76x Peter Eccelsine on aKawasaki 350. Next month the San Francisco Chapter of AFM will present their a:lIlual 250 mUe 4th of July Raca which will be held SundaY, July 6 at Vaca- Valley Raceway. There is also a rumor going around that the L.A. Chapter is planning a 500 mUer to be run at night time as well as the day. If the rumor persists, this should be quite a race.
