Ascot point leader Shorty Seabourne (BSA) worked his way past Mel Lacber (H-D) for 2nd place on lap 5, !ben Paul Conserrlere (H-D) also moved by Lacher 2 laps later and was closing strongly on Seabourne at the finish. Ron Kruseman (Triumpb) and Lloyd Houchins (BSA) had a good go for 4th. with Kruseman finally ga1n1ng the advantage. Geezer Emlck (BSA). Doug Christopber (Triumpb). Bruce Andersen (Trlumpb) and seml winner Tim Harris (BSA) rounded out tile f1n1sbers. Tlme for the event was a slzZl1ng 5:48.84, quickest Main Event clocking of tile season and less !ban a second off DeWayne Keeter's track record for the dlstance. Lacber. victorious in tile otller Expert beat. also grabbed tile Trophy Dash gold. taking over from Houchins on tile 2nd laP. Mel tIIus became the onlY 3-time Dash winner of tile year. Amateur point leader Terry Donaber (Velocet1e) beat out Seabourne for sbow sPOt. Donaher Does 'Em In After sp1ll1ng last week. Donaher came back fiercely to defend his yellow-plate supremacy. He was 2nd fastest overall quallf1er. fended off tile advances of Don Dudek (Triumpb) in b1s beat race. then came from 3rd to snatch the lead on lap 1 of the lO-lap final. Wayne Hosaka (BSA) maneuvered from 5th to 3rd bebind Dudek, with Keitll Masbburn(Yamaha) passed semi winner Bob Fulton(H-D) for 4t11 on tile last lap. Edwards Again...And Again The K&N 250cc Yamaha of Freddie Edwards once more won every Novice event be entered. and Steady Freddie now bas a 9-in-a-row win streak going. SuzuJd-mounted Don Emde gave a good accounting of himself. bowever.
