Lawton SACRAMENTO, CAL .• JuDe 7, 1969Ra1pb Waldman, the Fa1rf1eld Flash, made It three weeks in a row as he showed the 250 expert class how to ride the flat track at Sacramento Raceway. Waldman, rtding a Triumph, had to overcome a 10 yard handicap to take the first place tropby in the fast class at the evening. Ray Huff ~ Modesto, on a Yamaha was in second place followed by Gus Lauer of Grass Valley. Dennis Huff, son at Ray, could only manage a fourth and bas yet to best his dad now !bat they are riding in the same class. The races co-sponsored by the Fort Sutter and Sacramento Trackers Motorcycle Clubs, entertained approximately 800 hardy tans. Mini-bike races and a Powder Puff race helped to complete a. full evening at racing. Sacramento trophy winners were, Rich Smith 1st in the 125 Novice Class, Del Silva 1st 125 Amateur, John Green 1st 200 Amateur, Paul Minor Jr. 1st 250 Amateur. Lynette Gutierrez, Sacramento, was leading Ginger Burrola in the Powder Puff race when she had the misfortune at tal11ng in a turn. Lynette appeared to have sprained her wrist and may be out of action for a few weeks. Johnny Minor, a member at the Minor racing tam1ly took the first trophy In the Under 15-1/2 Mini Bike race. Johnny and Paul Minor Jr. both took home trophies and this lett dad, Paul Minor Sr. as the only member at the famJly without some form d recognition. Paul Minor Sr. competes in the lOOcc Amateur class. Racing resumes next Saturday nightat Sacramento Raceway on the new one eighth-mile flat track. Dust free that is after the cloudburst started. twisting course, along with every rider was drenched by. an afternoon desert shower !bat came up during the tb1rd round at matos. The doWllPOur was welcomed as a relief from the searing mJdday beat but came too late to quench the fire that engulfed a Sachs during the second 125cc Moto. The early fIn1sbers and we D.N.F.'s sought shelter in the Deedm.n's Pobt saloon. The storm caused a power failure that briefly put the country music band outof business but the amplifiers came baclt to life in time for the trophy presentation and dancing music to toP off an almost perfect race day in the desert. It was run-away night with the three class winDers being virtually unchallenged. Ahola let his intention be known by posting the fast qualifying time at the meet. But 1968 Graham Champion IlBn Holton swept by Ahola in the f1Dal turn ~ the Tropby Dash to score an upset win. Ahola then had to Immediately remount his Triumph to ride his beat as Referee Daft Welsh reversed the proeram because ~ threateninc weather. He then romped to an easy win over Greg Morris. This track Is tight and rough and one d the few TT courses where knobbies are the thing to run. In the 100cc main Charlie McGimsey ~ Rancho Cordova, California 00 a Suzuki led the ftrst eight laps of the twelve lap event only to fail and be passed by four riders with Hodalla mounted Cliff Richardson at Reno in the lead followed closely by #39n Bill Busey. McGimsey didn't let this bother him too much however, he still finished a strong lhtrd. The 125cc's were up next with the Yama1Ias out in force.
