Aided by posh Cycle World magazine. The trip is to be extended to A ustralia, New Zealand and Canada as well as the U.S. He will have about seven weeks in all to demonstrate the blessings of trialing and his own mastery of the sport. The he is the master is never doubted, and has been so for many years, but ocassionally he is criticized as being too good. Recently at the Scottish Six Day he was roundly jeered as he was losing his first spot at a section called "pipeline" (sounds like a surfer spot, eh?). To his rescue came the entire country, judging by the letters in the press, after all- England is the home of sportsmanship, right? OUTRIDERS GET BREAK By R.O. ClImer Sells Mammoth German Factory FRANKFURT, W. GERMANY - According to an announcement released to the German press, Floyd Clymer, motor book publlsber of Los Angeles, Calif., has sold his interest in the Friedel Munch motorcycle factory located at Ossenheim, West Germany. The deal was consummated on Clymer's recent visit to Germany, when a representative of the Frankfurt branch of the Chase Manhattan Bank of New York offered to buy the firm for an undisclosed cllent. The amount paid to Clymer by the undisclosed purchaser was not stated. Clymer became associated with Mr. Munch some three years ago and financed the purchase of new equipment, machine tools, advertising and world sales promotion, which also included moving into a new factory. Production of the Mammoth has been running at about eight to ten un! ts a month. The firm wlll expand production of the Mammoth 4, designed and engineered by Mr. Munch. Mr. Munch will also do development work on· his racing engines, the dual OHC twin, inasmuch as he is intensively interested in competition activities. Back In Los Angeles, Clymer commented, "A rather surprise offer was recently made to me when I was last in Frankfurt. I considered the offer too good to refuse. My relationship with Friedel Munch and his manager, Jacques Marquart, was a pleasant one. I am haPPy with the contribution that I was able to make through past financing of his project. It was, however, time-consuming for me to fly to Germany about every six weeks." "The sale of my interest in Germany will enable me to intensify my efforts In the promotion, sale and wor1dwfOe dIstrlbution of the Indian line, which we now produce in Italy. SO you mJgbt say I am not leaving the motorcycle busiDess which I love, but that lam now in It more than ever. We are very busy with constantly increasing Indian production for world sales, and the distribution of Royal Enfield mototcycles in states west of the MississiPpi River."
