VERITABLE FOUNTAIN OF PUlCHRITUDE I am very interested In the gorgeous tropby girls that have been tropby girls at Ascot this past few weeks. Hats of! to J,C. Agajanian for the extra added treat. I now have a 1968 BSA 441 Victor. I like to go hillcllmblng and tral11ng on rabbit and cowtralls in the hills and mountaIns and sometimes bombing across the desert (In that order). My Victor has the power I want but I would like all I can get and more. I consider myself hard on a bike. I will tell you the good and bad points of my Victor, In my oplnlon so you can apply It to the new one. GOOD: Low end power, four cycle, soWId. BAD: Reliability, weight, comfort (In that order). by C&S Publishing Co •• Post Office Box 498. Long Beach. California. also publishers of State Cycle News for the Eastern states. However, there is no reason why your Victor shouldn't be reliable. Any more _erfll!, more comfortable bike would probably be beavier. Maybe it's time you Iladed for a new bike, as onroad use wears out a macbine rapidly .Or consider replacing shocks, ror1l seals and eleclric paris so your Victor will FEEL like a new bike again. HATS OFF TO NORTH BAY On May 17th I went north to race a short track event In Santa Rosa, put on by the North Bay M C. Boy I can't say enough about this club! I have never been to such an organized meet, class C or other wise. This club really works to put on an event. The men's wives work also, like at the pit gate, scoring and selling programs so their husbands can race. This was the season opener, they drew close to 175 bikes, and finished the show by 10: IS, with a wheelle contest during intermission. The trophies were great. To top things off they donated over $1300.00 to the mentalIy retarded. The only thing wrong with this club, Is they never seem to report to the papers. But I guess there Isn't much use, they have the best game in town. There was standing room only by 7: 30 and close to 175 riders speaks for Itself. You couldn't dig uP that many riders in the 3 flat track events held here In Southern California. Hat's off to President Steve Sharpe and the entire North Bay M C for a heavy race! Nicholl Jr. of the Harvard UniYerslty psychiatry department, motorcycllsts are likely to be "wealI: and Impotent with a poor selfImage and a deep-seated fear of women." Nicholl analyzed nine Harvard students to gaIn some insight into the "epidemic of trauma" resulting from the "motorcycle craze." 'Ibe Doctor coined the p1Irase "motorcycle syndrome" In his report to the American Psychiatric Association, meeting In M1am1 Beach. He saId the "syndrome" consists 01. the following characteristics: 1. Unusual preoccuPation with the motorcycle. When not actually riding It, the patient dreams of doing so continuously. The mere sound of a distant motorcycle will set off "vivid fantasies." 2. Impotence. "The aDJdety resulting from failure to perform sexually Is often alleviated by r1d1ng a motorcycle. There Is persistent doubt about his masculine competence." 3. "A fear of talI, broad-shouldered, sexually aggressive girls wbo lnltlate relationships by expressing admiration for the motorcycle or asldng to ride It." 4. "A hatmtlng fear of bodily Injury, mutilation ••• and death while riding the motorcycle." 5. History of accident proneness from early childhood. 6. "A minimum of physical or Intellectualactivity.L1t1leahillty to compete academically. soc1a1ly or athletically." "ThIs syndrome," Dr. Nicholl admits, "does not Include everyone who enjoys riding a motorcycle." Right you are, Doc. But you sure nailed my psyche, there • Probably saved me hours of eJ
